Qatar Music Academy is seeking to recruit a local Peripatetic Ballet and Contemporary Dance Teacher to start in September 2024.

Applications are invited from dedicated and enthusiastic dance teachers who have a passion for teaching students ranging in age from 5 to 18. The role will involve delivering group dance lessons, mainly during the afternoons. The successful applicant will initially teach approximately two to three hours per week but there is the potential for this to increase.

Start: September 2024

Salary: Competitive, hourly paid rate

 

Required degree

A Degree in Performing Arts/ Dance Degree or one of the qualifications: DMA, NDEO, RAD, CDTA, ISTD, IDTA, Cecchetti USA (or similar is preferred).

 

Person specification

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of teaching students ages 5 -18 years old.
  • Candidate must have experience teaching & training in, at least, two out of three (Ballet, Contemporary, & Modern Dance) disciplines.
  • Candidate should have an excellent command of both written and spoken English.
  • Patience, knowledge and an ability to communicate dance movement to students.
  • Excellent class management - Ability to keep control over a large class of students.
    Friendly and sincere personality but also energetic, driven, creative, and dependable.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and execute a comprehensive dance curriculum aligned with QMA’s standards with a view to prepare students for possible future dance exams.
  • Establish excellent rapport with students, parents and staff.
  • Strong passion to inspire the students to appreciate different genres of dance.
  • Demonstrate and expect from students high standards.
  • Organize dance events within the Academy and the wider community.
  • Actively participate in community engagement activities, workshops, and events, promoting the Academy's commitment to cultural enrichment.
